VERNAL — A missing man last seen earlier in April camping in the Brown’s Park area was found dead on Monday by search crews, authorities said.

Leonard Corby “Corb” Fisher, 44, was last seen on March 31 or April 1 and reported missing on April 4, authorities said.

A ground search began that day but was later discontinued to due COVID-19 concerns.

The search resumed on Saturday and continued Sunday but weather halted further efforts.

On Monday, crews again searched for Fisher and found his body just before 11:30 a.m., about 2.5 miles from where Fisher was last seen.

His Colorado driver’s license was inside of a wallet found on the body, Daggett County Sheriff’s officials said.

“Based on the location and the belongings found at the scene, we believe the body is that of Mr. Fisher,” Daggett County Sheriff Erik Bailey said in a statement. “On behalf of my office and the searchers involved in the effort to find Mr. Fisher, I extend my sincere condolences to his family and friends.”

No evidence of foul play was found and his body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to learn the cause of death and officially confirm the identity, authorities said.
