SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police on Tuesday released the name of the man who was found dead in a car on Monday afternoon.

South Salt Lake police executive officer Gary Keller identified the man as David Nipper, 56, of Salt Lake City.

Nipper’s body was found in a car about 3:41 p.m. Monday near 2610 S. 1100 West.

The owner of a business nearby reported the discovery of the body and told police that the car had been there for an extended period of time, Keller said Monday. It appeared that Nipper had been living in the car and that he had been dead for a while, according to Keller.

Though the death is being investigated as suspicious, no foul play is suspected, Keller said.

He did not say exactly how long the body or car had been there.

No other details about the death have been released.
