SOUTH SALT LAKE — The family of a man who was shot and killed on Easter Sunday is offering a reward for any information leading to the arrest of his killer.

Matthew Holt, 46, of South Jordan, was found shot to death in a parked car near 3200 South and 900 West around 2:45 p.m on April 16.

Matthew Holt’s family is offering up to $10,000 to anyone with information, according to South Salt Lake police.

The family wants the person responsible for Matthew Holt’s death arrest so that no one else is hurt, said his father, Earl Holt.

“It’s not for event or anything like that. We just don’t want anybody else to have to go throw what we’ve been going through,” said Maxine Holt, Matthew’s mother.

Last month, police released surveillance photos of two to three people seen in the area they believe could have been witnesses. Several days later, police released photos and information about a 2012-2016 silver Chevrolet Sonic hatchback they were trying to locate that was seen in the area before and after the time police said Holt was killed.

Investigators have not identified a motive for the homicide and but are hopeful someone will come forward, said Gary Keller with South Salt Lake police.

Police are still seeking any information from anyone who was near the Jordan River Parkway Trail between the hours of 11 a.m and 2 p.m. Easter Sunday.

Police urge anyone with information about the suspect vehicle or Holt’s death to contact South Salt Lake police dispatch at 801-840-4000. They remind the public that all calls are considered confidential and callers can remain anonymous.
