SALT LAKE CITY — The downtown Salt Lake City Dine-O-Round is in full swing, and if you were hoping to bypass the first weekend rush, we’ve got a list of several dinner spots for you to try.

Last week, we wrote about five places to get lunch for $10 Sept. 12-28. This week, we’re back with our favorites from the dinner options. Be sure to ask for the discounted Dine-O-Round menu.

$15 dinners

Spitz

This little establishment has quickly become a popular place to hang out and eat a delicious doner kebab (pronounced du-ner) and street cart fries with a drink. It’s likely you will leave feeling pretty stuffed, as both the sandwich and fries are generously portioned.

Choose your meat for a street cart doner to start, served with a side of street cart fries. For dessert, you’ll get cinnamon pita chips.

Canella’s

This Italian restaurant is affordable and tasty.

For the Dine-O-Round, it is offering a three-piece bruschetta for an appetizer, along with your choice of soup or house salad.

The entreé is a choice between the restaurant's 12-inch Italian stallion pizza — bell pepper puree, sauteed peppers, onion, mozzerella and colosimo sausage — pasta primavera or three-cheese tortelleni.

While dessert isn't free, you can tack a scoop of gelato or canolli on for a mere $2

Wild Grape Bistro

This South Temple restaurant offers upscale American food in a cool and beautiful atmosphere. The ingredients are locally sourced and many are organic, prepared artfully.

For the Dine-O-Round, diners can choose between a caprese arugula salad or sweet corn and crab bisque for a starter. It is serving two entreés. The first option is wood-grilled chicken served with zucchini, cherry tomatoes, wild mushrooms, roasted garlic and corn, white wine and parmesan cheese. Tofu pesto with grilled tofu, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, wild mushrooms, roasted garlic and corn, with white wine and parmesan is the second entreé option.

Included in the $30 dinner option is dessert. Diners can top off their meal with either house-made chocolate pudding or wood-grilled peach crumble.

The restaurant is also participating in the lunch, serving a caprese arugula salad or a sweet corn and crab bisque for a starter. The entrée is a choice between slow-roasted pulled pork tacos on a red corn tortilla with caramelized onions, roasted corn and an apricot whiskey barbecue sauce or the pesto tofu wrap filled with zucchini, sun-dried tomatoes, basil, pesto and crispy tofu.

Star of India

If you’re looking for Indian in the Dine-O-Round, the Star of India is serving up a $30 dinner. While the service can be slow, the food is good. And, for those who want control over how spicy their curry is, Star of India accommodates by letting you choose the level.

Choose between a vegetable or meat samosa for an appetizer and two curries — one with lamb, the other chicken — for your main course.

Oasis

This cafe is always busy during brunch hours, but don’t overlook it as a dinner spot.

Diners choose between tomato fennel soup or a mixed green salad for their first course. For the second course, Oasis is serving lamb chops over roasted gold potatoes with roasted root vegetables and rosemary demi glaze. Dessert is its tuxedo cheesecake.

Bambara

The ambiance at this restaurant makes you feel like you are in a much bigger city’s downtown, and the menu cements that.

During the Dine-O-Round, Bambara will feature different dishes each day, but Monday’s fare includes a starter of organic mixed baby lettuces, summer stone fruit, shaved pecorino with cider-honey vinaigrette.

The entreé is a choice between three main dishes. The first is a seared chicken served with Beehive Cheddar grits, garlic seared chard, marinated cherry tomatoes and sauce choron. The second is a pan-seared Scottish salmon with wild mushroom couscous, warm spinach bacon salad with red pepper aioli. And the final choice is a potato goat cheese ravioli with summer squashes, arugula, pecorino and cherry tomato coulis.

Dessert is Bambara’s refreshing house made sorbet.
