LAS VEGAS (AP) — After four days of repairs, a transportation official says a flood-damaged stretch of Interstate 15 between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City has one lane open in each direction for passenger vehicles.
Nevada Department of Transportation spokeswoman Meg Ragonese says it could still take weeks to rebuild and open other lanes near Moapa.
Big-rig trucks are still detoured off I-15 to a route that adds 50 miles and several hours to their Nevada-to-Utah trip.
Ragonese says the repair cost so far is about $5 million.
That's on top of a projected $667,000 to repair local roads in northeast Clark County.
Gov. Brian Sandoval declared a state of emergency in the rural area after intense rainfall and flash flooding on Monday.
Officials have tallied 139 flood-damaged homes in area.
