OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Steve Panos scored 16 points, 14 in the second half, as Weber State defeated the Sacramento State Hornets 69-56 on Wednesday night.
The sophomore shot 7 of 10 from the field. He scored seven straight points for the Wildcats (10-8, 5-1 Big Sky Conference) to start the second half.
Weber State built its lead to 64-45 when Arturas Valeika finished a fast break with a layup with 4:37 remaining.
The Hornets (3-15, 1-6) kept in the game in the first half with seven 3-pointers. But in the second half Sacramento State struggled, shooting just 1-of-6 from behind the arc and 22 percent overall.
Dezmon Harris also scored 13 for the Wildcats, who won thier fifth straight game. Valeika had 11 to go with his game-high nine rebounds.
Clark Woods led the Hornets with 21 while Loren Leath had 11.
