BOSTON (AP) — Yankees starter Nathan Eovaldi has been removed after one inning from a game against the Red Sox with right elbow discomfort.
The team says he will be sent to New York for further examination.
The right-hander retired the side on 12 pitches, but left-hander Chasen Shreve began warming in the top of the second and entered in the bottom of the inning.
Eovaldi was 2-2 in four starts after returning to the rotation and has a team-high nine wins. He was demoted to the bullpen in early July.
