Swoope's 3 gives Elon 65-64 win over Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Dainan Swoope's 3-pointer with 20 seconds left rallied Elon to a 65-64 victory over the College of Charleston on Saturday.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by Charleston's Evan Bailey and Cameron Johnson gave the Cougars (10-7, 2-4 Colonial Athletic) a three-point lead. Elon's Christian Hairston and Johnson exchanged baskets in the final minute and Hairston made a free throw before Swoope's winning shot. Johnson missed in the paint with six seconds left.

Charleston led 50-38 with 13:24 left before a 20-5 run by Elon.

Tyler Seibring led the Phoenix (12-7, 3-3) with 18 points. Luke Eddy added 15 and Swoope, with four 3-pointers, 12. Hairston grabbed 10 rebounds.

Johnson led Charleston with 16 points. Jarrell Brantley added 15 and Marquise Pointer and Bailey 12 each.

Charleston announced that junior guard and CAA leading scorer Canyon Barry (19.7 ppg) is out for the season after shoulder surgery for an injury suffered in a Jan. 2 game against William & Mary.
