NBA boots Mayo...DeRozan stays with Raptors...Sabres land Okposo

NEW YORK (AP) — O.J. Mayo has been kicked out of the NBA for violating the terms of the league's anti-drug program. The former Milwaukee Buck is the first player to receive that punishment in a decade. According to rules of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program, information regarding the testing or treatment of a player can't be disclosed by the league, his team or the union.

TORONTO (AP) — All-Star guard DeMar DeRozan is staying with the Toronto Raptors and agreeing on the basic framework of a five-year deal, a person with knowledge of the negotiations has told The Associated Press. DeRozan averaged a career-best 23.5 points this past season for the Raptors, becoming only the third Toronto player to ever score at such a pace.

DETROIT (AP) - The Pistons have convinced free agent center Andre Drummond to stick around with a five year, $130 million contract. The All-Star averaged 16.2 points and an NBA-leading 14.8 rebounds for the Pistons last season.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A person with direct knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that the Buffalo Sabres have reached an agreement to sign forward Kyle Okposo to a seven-year, $42 million contract. The 28-year-old has eight-plus seasons of NHL experience, is a three-time 20-goal-scorer and regarded as one of the top players available in free agency.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Penguins have rewarded general manager Jim Rutherford with a new three-year contract that will run through the 2018-19 season. The 67-year-old Rutherford came to Pittsburgh two years ago and totally revamped the roster around stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, leading to the franchise's fourth Stanley Cup this spring.
