OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Chris Ellis scattered eight hits in a complete game, Sikes Orvis drove in five runs and Mississippi cruised past Jacksonville State 12-2 on Saturday in the opening round of the Oxford regional.

Ole Miss (42-18) scored five runs with two outs in the first inning to break the game open early. The Rebels had 17 hits, led by Orvis' 3-for-4 performance that included a double and a homer.

The Rebels will play Washington on Sunday in the second round of the regional. Jacksonville State will face Georgia Tech in an elimination game.

Jacksonville State (36-26) scored a run in the top of the first, but Ellis (10-1) didn't allow another one until the ninth. It was his second complete game of the season.

Zachary Fowler (7-8) took the loss for Jacksonville State after his start ended after completing just two-thirds of an inning.
