SACHSENRING, Germany (AP) — Marc Marquez took a bet on tires and won his seventh straight MotoGP German Grand Prix on Sunday.
The championship leader who rides for Honda started from pole but struggled early in the race, going off on Turn 8. Rain showers had hit the track and it started as a wet race. But the surface started drying and Marquez went to the pits to switch to slicks on the 17th of 30 laps.
Marquez then blazed to the lead with six laps remaining and never relinquished it.
Cal Crutchlow was second on a Honda, 9.85 seconds behind, and Andrea Dovizioso was third on a Ducati, 11.61 seconds off the pace.
Defending world champion Jorge Lorenzo finished 15th on his Yamaha, with teammate Valentino Rossi ending eighth.
