GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Outfielder Matt Kemp of the Dodgers is scheduled for an MRI of his surgically-repaired left ankle on Friday. Kemp, who sustained the injury in July, has been limited to batting practice in spring training and hasn't been able to run. Kemp, an All-Star in 2011 and 2012, is not expected to travel for the season-opening series against Arizona in Sydney on March 22-23.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin (joh-LEES' cha-SEEN') has no structural damage in his troublesome throwing shoulder, but will remain sidelined for at least another week. The Rockies top starter last season has been limited since the start of spring training and had yet to throw off the mound before he was shut down on Sunday.
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Bradley gets another shot at trying to hand Wichita State its first loss of the season. The third-ranked Shockers put their 29-0 record on the line tonight on the road in Peoria. Wichita State won their earlier meeting this season by 22 points.
MIAMI (AP) — LeBron James says he should be able to play when the Heat face the Knicks on Thursday. The NBA MVP sat out Sunday's win over Chicago after suffering a broken nose in Miami's win over Oklahoma City last Thursday.
UNDATED (AP) —The Sacramento Kings and guard Jimmer Fredette are working on a buyout of his contract. The former first-round draft pick in 2011 hasn't lived up to expectations after being named the Associated Press College Player of the Year following his senior season at BYU. Fredette is making $2.4 million this season while averaging 5.9 points in 11.3 minutes.
