EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Four games into the season, there are plenty of similarities between this year's Michigan State team and last year's. The 25th-ranked Spartans are 3-1 with a tough loss to Arizona State but a 1-0 record in the Big Ten. Michigan State again has an uneven offense and a characteristically stout defense. There are a few differences from last year. Mark Dantonio is now the winningest coach in school history, and tight end Matt Seybert has a scholarship.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — No. 5 Ohio State faces its toughest challenge yet at Nebraska on Saturday. The Buckeyes have had this game circled on the calendar since the beginning of the season. They've rolled along in their first four games against overmatched teams but Nebraska will have the best athletes the Buckeyes have seen. It starts with Adrian Martinez, who had a great game at Ohio Stadium last season as the Cornhuskers nearly upset the Buckeyes.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Freshman kicker Keith Duncan etched his name into Iowa's history books three years ago, drilling a game-winning 33-yard field goal to beat No. 2 Michigan 14-13 in a game the Hawkeyes entered as 24-point underdogs. Duncan all but disappeared for the next two seasons. He has used that time as an opportunity to earn the starting job back. The results have been spot on so far.
