SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Trevor Lawrence threw for three touchdowns and ran for another and top-ranked Clemson beat nemesis Syracuse 41-6. Clemson (3-0, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) has won 18 straight games, a school record and the longest streak in the nation.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (AP) — No. 13 Penn State used a pair of late defensive stands to hold off rival Pittsburgh 17-10. The Nittany Lions turned the Panthers away twice in the fourth quarter. Pitt couldn't score a touchdown despite having the ball at the Penn State 1 midway through the final frame. Pitt's last-ditch possession ended with quarterback Kenny Pickett's heave to the end zone falling incomplete. Journey Brown ran for 109 yards and a score for Penn State, which improved to 53-43-4 all-time against the Panthers.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Wayne Taulapapa ran for three touchdowns, the last with 2:34 remaining, and No. 25 Virginia hung on, barely, to beat Florida State 31-24. The Cavaliers trailed for much of the night and looked to have blown their chance when Brian Delaney missed a tying extra point with 6:02 to play, but a three-and-out by the Seminoles and a six-play, 72-yard drive capped by Taulapapa's 2-yard run gave them the winning margin.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Quentin Harris threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 112 yards more as the Duke Blue Devils scored 34 straight points in beating Middle Tennessee 41-18. Duke coach David Cutcliffe came out gambling early and often against his old friend, Middle Tennessee coach Rick Stockstill. Duke recovered an onside kick after scoring a TD on its first drive, and the Blue Devils scored on four of their first five possessions.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Jarren Williams threw for 254 yards and three scores, and the Miami Hurricanes gave rookie coach Manny Diaz his first victory by beating Bethune-Cookman 63-0. Williams went 19 for 24 without a turnover or a sack. His scoring passes covered 22 yards to K.J. Osborn, 32 yards to Michael Harley and 1 yard to Larry Hodges.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Austin Kendall threw three touchdown passes to lead West Virginia to a 44-27 victory over North Carolina State. Kennedy McKoy helped West Virginia's run game break out of a slump with a pair of scores. The Mountaineers had by far their highest offensive production of the season one week after looking lethargic in a 38-7 loss at Missouri. North Carolina State was limited to 97 yards of offense in the second half.

ATLANTA (AP) — Jacob Godek's 37-yard field goal in overtime gave The Citadel a 27-24 victory over Georgia Tech as Brandon Rainey ran for a touchdown and passed for a score before leaving with an injury. Georgia Tech's Brenton King missed a field-goal attempt on the first overtime possession.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Virginia Tech trailed 14-3 at halftime, but Tré Turner's two second half touchdowns enabled the Hokies to grab the lead and then they held on late for the victory
