GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Reginald Johnson, Jr. scored 29 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished seven assists, leading Hampton to its fourth-straight win, 79-62 over North Carolina A&T on Saturday.
Johnson was 6 of 11 from the 3-point line for Hampton (9-7, 5-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), which made 14 total, its most since 2009. Brian Darden had four makes from behind the arc and totaled 17 points.
North Carolina A&T (5-14, 2-3) trailed by nine at the break but cut the deficit to two with 11:38 remaining on a jumper from Ahmad Abdullah. But the Pirates responded with a 14-2 run over the next three minutes to take back control.
Sam Hunt had 16 points for A&T, Denzel Keyes added 12 and Ede Egharevba 11.
Hampton shot 53 percent in the second half and led by as many as 20 points.
