LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Dodgers and Giants continue their long rivalry tonight with the second of two games in Los Angeles. The Dodgers took last night's contest and in doing so improved their lead over the second-place Giants in the National League West to two games. Newcomer Rich Hill is on the mound for the home team against Johnny Cueto (KWAY'-toh).

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Dodgers are in first place in the National League West despite the fact they have had to put a record number of players on the disabled list this season. With the additions of left-handers Brett Anderson and Scott Kazmir on the DL yesterday, the Dodgers have now been forced to put 27 players on the DL. That equals the record set by the 2012 Boston Red Sox.

UNDATED (AP) — The lead in the American League East is shared by Toronto and Boston as each team is 71-54. Tonight the Jays are playing host to the Angels while the Sox are at Tampa Bay. Baltimore is just two games back of the Jays and Red Sox and tonight they are playing the Nationals in Washington.

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Texas Rangers have parted company with Josh Hamilton. The outfielder was placed on unconditional release waivers yesterday after a series of operations on his left knee. At one time, Hamilton was a feared hitter but now his career is in doubt.

UNDATED (AP) — Minnesota Vikings' quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was back at practice throwing balls yesterday. Although coach Mike Zimmer has been pretty mum about Bridgewater's status, it is known the QB is suffering for a sore shoulder. It was the first time he's thrown in front of reporters in a week.
