PROVO — The BYU Cougars announced Thursday that they have agreed to a home-and-home football series with the Arizona State Sun Devils for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
BYU will travel to Tempe, Ariz., on Sept. 19, 2020, and will host ASU at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Sept. 18, 2021.
In BYU's official press release, Athletic Director Tom Holmoe talked about the long history between the two programs.
"BYU-ASU is a great regional matchup that dates back to the 1930s," Holmoe said. "As charter members of the Western Athletic Conference, we've enjoyed a rich football rivalry. We look forward to playing in Tempe again, where we have a lot of Cougar fans and alumni. It will also be exciting to have ASU back in Provo."
With the addition of Arizona State, BYU now has future football games scheduled with seven teams from the Pac-12. The Cougars are set to play USC (2019, 2021, 2023), Stanford (2022, 2022, 2023, 2025), Utah (2017, 2018), Cal (2014, 2017), Arizona (2016, 2018, 2020), Arizona State (2020, 2021) and Washington State (2019).
