Louisiana-Lafayette is trying to win its second outright Sun Belt football title and first since the departure of current Florida coach Billy Napier when the Ragin' Cajuns host the Marshall Thundering Herd. This is Louisiana-Lafayette's fifth appearance in the Sub Belt title game. It lost the first two to Appalachian State in 2018 and 2019 before its 2020 matchup with Coastal Carolina was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cajuns finally broke through with a victory over Appalachian State in 2021 and Napier left to take over the Gators the next day. Marshall is making its first Sun Belt title game appearance and is led by transfer quarterback Braylon Braxton. He's 7-0 as a starter this season.
