The 2024 Utah legislative session passed bills that will affect your hunting seasons from now on. House Bill 222 modifies the requirement to wear hunter orange. The old law required hunters to wear 400 square-inches of hunter orange on their head, chest and back. The new law says hunters only have to wear one item of orange on their outermost layer of clothing. House Bill 382 authorizes the Utah Wildlife Board to establish season dates and rules for shed hunting. The bill also raises penalties for those convicted of poaching big game animals.
