Snapshot of the Week: July 18, 2015

We kick it off with an unexpected species for Verdean and the kids. Verdean, his son and two grandkids, Katie and Spencer went to Willard in search of some tasty catfish and they even managed a few wipers as well. Verdean says, "you wouldn't believe the screaming and excitement from the kids as they tried to reel in the hard fighting wipers. But, they did it! All by themselves. Memories never to be forgotten.

Check out this beautiful cinnamon phase black bear that Corey took on the first twenty minutes of his hunt. Corey says, "he woke up early, drove to a place he'd never been before and just twenty minutes later Corey spotted this big bore 90 yards away." and just like that, Corey's 2015 bear hunt was over.

Rusty has come down with the turkey bug! In the spring of 2014, Rusty bagged a nice tom, last fall he took a good jake. Then this spring, he bagged another bird, this huge tom. Rusty says, "so Far he's loving Utah's turkey hunting."

Katie was with her dad and step mom up in Idaho over the fourth of July when she caught this giant brown on the Snake River. Katie says, this brown wasn't down for a snapshot and jumped out of her hands, five times! She says her dad got the picture and they released the fish to one day jump out of someone else's hands.

But our winner tonight just took up fly fishing and is quickly getting the hang of it. The past couple of years Chris and his son Chayton have been fishing the famed Boulder Mountains in search of some boulder brookies. Chayton is just learning to fly fish and this beautiful brook trout is his very first fish on a a fly rod. Dad says, Chayton made his own cast, set the hook and reeled the fish in with no help at all. You couldn't wipe the smile off of the kids face. Well congrats Chayton on learning a new skill, that not only netted you that fine brookie, but now our big prize for having...the snapshot of the week.
