ATHENS, Greece (AP) - An Athens court on Friday jailed four Turkish nationals pending trial on terrorism and weapons-related charges after they were arrested during raids on an Athens apartment that netted automatic weapons and several kilograms (pounds) of explosives.

The four are suspected of being members of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front, or DHKP-C, a group believed responsible for a string of bombings and assassinations in Turkey, including a suicide bombing against the U.S. Embassy in Ankara last year that killed a guard and the bomber.

Police have said at least one of the four Turkish nationals was being sought by Turkey under an international arrest warrant, and that his DNA matched traces on weapons intercepted by Greek authorities in the Aegean Sea last summer on a speedboat allegedly headed for Turkey.

In the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki, police on Friday arrested a 51-year-old Turkish man in connection with a 2011 blast in a flat that killed a Turkish suspected DHKP-C member when a hand grenade exploded in his hands. A police statement said the suspect faces charges of allegedly belonging to a criminal group and supplying arms and explosives to militants. Police said one of the four jailed Friday is also linked with the Thessaloniki explosion.
