ATHENS, Greece (AP) - Three Greek policemen have been suspended and are being investigated on charges of stealing cash and beating four migrants during a drugs bust in central Athens.

Police announced Friday that the three had been suspended following complaints that they had stolen 1,100 euros ($1,500) from four Bangladeshi nationals during a search of their home, after allegedly finding three of them selling drugs on a central Athens street.

The four said the search of their home Wednesday had been unauthorized, the policemen had hit them over the head during the search, and had taken the cash and drugs before leaving. The men were arrested on drug charges.

Greece's police force has come under severe criticism for its treatment of migrants, and authorities have been trying to clean up the force's image.
