2 in USVI accused of pretending to be FBI

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) - Two people in the U.S. Virgin Islands have been accused of impersonating FBI employees and pretending to recruit people to work for the agency.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says the suspects told people they were forming a new FBI taskforce in the U.S. Virgin Islands and charged people for initial paperwork and training. Officials accused them of defrauding people out of hundreds of dollars.

The U.S. Attorney's Office on Friday identified the suspects as 30-year-old Alana Liburd of St. John and 31-year-old Yamini Potter of St. Thomas. It wasn't immediately clear if they had attorneys.
