Yellowstone, Teton get $200K for electric vehicles, chargers

MOOSE, Wyo. (AP) — Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks have teamed up with a clean energy coalition to secure more than $200,000 to add a plug-in hybrid electric car to their vehicle fleets and to install six public electric vehicle charging stations.

As the regional designee of the Department of Energy's Clean Cities National Parks Initiative, the Yellowstone-Teton Clean Energy Coalition worked with both national parks to identify and submit a request for funding.

The parks and the energy coalition want to reduce the use of petroleum and establish a hub for the region's electric vehicle infrastructure network.

Their next goal is to encourage gateway communities to install charging stations.
