Worker seriously injured at LI work site

BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. (AP) — Officials say a man was seriously injured after falling 8 feet at a work site on Long Island.

It happened around noon Thursday at Long Island Precast in Brookhaven, which makes concrete drainage trenches and retaining walls.

Police say the worker was hooking a forklift to a 4-foot square drain when he slipped and fell at least 8 feet.

According to Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1kPjcXY ), he was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It says three drains were stacked on top of each other, and the employee was standing on the second one when he fell.
