Video: Officer 'furious and so hurt' after deadly police-involved shooting

CLEVELAND, OH — A police-involved shooting left a black man dead in Baton Rouge, Louisiana Tuesday night. The shooting was caught on cell video.

A Warrensville police officer watched the video then went on Facebook to react.

Officer Nakia Jones said she watched the video over and over.

"I wear blue. I became so furious and so hurt," said Jones.

On Tuesday, July 5, police were called regarding a man who was outside a convenience store in Baton Rouge. The caller allegedly told police the man had a gun and threatened someone.

Officials say Officer Blane Salamoni and Officer Howie Lake II responded to the call. They say an altercation ensued between the officers and 37-year-old Alton Sterling, who was allegedly outside the store selling CDs.

An autopsy conducted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office shows that Sterling died from multiple gunshot wounds to the back and chest.

On Wednesday evening, 19th Judicial District Attorney Hillar Moore confirmed that both officers said they felt their actions were justified.

Jones is a mother of six children, including two sons.

"My heart goes out to that young man's family because if it was my son, I don't know what I would do," said Jones.

She had a harsh message for fellow officers.

"If you are white and you work in a black community and you are racist, you should be ashamed of yourself."

In the 7-minute video Jones also had a message for those breaking the law: "Put the guns down, y'all. We're killing each other. We gotta stand together. Be smart."

She asked men to stand up and mentor young men.

"We are running around killing people left and right," she said.

The FBI has taken over the investigation of the Baton Rouge shooting.
