Tulsa Community College president resigns from school board

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The president and CEO of Tulsa Community College has resigned from the Tulsa school board.

Leigh Goodson, who resigned Monday, says her career demands have become too great for her to continue her service in the elected office. Tulsa World (http://bit.ly/1ICmBHI ) reports Goodson was elected to the board in February 2012 and hired as the college's president in May 2014.

The school board will accept applications from District 5, which is Goodson's election district, through April 27. Someone from the applicant pool will be chosen at a May 4 meeting to fill in for the remainder of Goodson's term, which will end in February 2016.

Goodson said she thinks her most significant accomplishment during her time on the school board has been the Tulsa's influence on public education throughout Oklahoma.
