Streets closed for marathon Salt Lake City on Saturday

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Streets around Utah's capital city will be closed Saturday for the annual Salt Lake City Marathon.

City police will start closing some downtown roads just after midnight Saturday, with additional closures throughout the day until the events wrap up around 6 p.m.

The race starts at the University of Utah, winds through the Avenues neighborhood, south past Liberty Park and Sugar House Park to the cities of Holladay and South Salt Lake before wrapping up north again for a finish in Salt Lake City's downtown.

A bike tour starts at 6 a.m. followed by a wheelchair hand cycle race at 6:20 a.m.. Full and half marathons kick off at 7 a.m.

Start times for a 5K and Kids K are later Saturday morning.
