WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — A lawsuit has been filed against some state workers and a Delaware motel where a 4-year-old girl was fatally beaten by her mother.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports (http://delonline.us/2a8Hhj3) Tiffany Greenfield is suing various Division of Family Services state workers and New Castle's Budget Motor Lodge where Autumn Milligan was found dead in 2014.
Greenfield is the guardian of Autumn's 7-year-old half-brother and is also the sister of the children's mother, Tanasia Milligan. Milligan is serving 20 years in prison for Autumn's death.
The lawsuit says the state failed to protect the two siblings, leaving them to suffer "unspeakable horror" until Autumn's death, even though Tanasia Milligan was the target of several neglect investigations.
A state representative declined comment to the newspaper.
A motel manager wasn't available for comment.
