Search suspended for boater missing in the Potomac

ACCOKEEK, Md. (AP) — Authorities say they have suspended a search for a 31-year-old man who jumped into the upper Potomac River to retrieve a fishing rod but never came back up.

The U.S. Coast Guard said in a news release that a Falls Church boater was headed down the river near Piscataway Park in Prince George's County on Sunday evening when he jumped into the water.

The man was not able to swim back to the boat against the current and he was not wearing a life vest.

Authorities say the search was suspended at noon Monday.
