WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama plans to host the Dutch royals at the White House in June.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima are making their first visit to the U.S. since ascending to the throne two years ago.
They are planning to visit the Oval Office on June 1, the first day of a three-day tour that will also include stops in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Chicago.
The White House said in a statement Friday that the visit reinforces strong ties between the United States and the Netherlands that reach back more than four centuries.
The 47-year-old king and his Argentine-born wife last visited the White House as the Crown Prince and Princess on September 11, 2009.
