RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A student Christian organization in North Carolina State University has dropped its lawsuit against school administrators after the university changed its student speech policy.
The News & Observer of Raleigh (http://bit.ly/29L06cw ) reports that Grace Christian Life settled the lawsuit after the school changed a policy that required students to get a permit to pass out pamphlets and fliers on campus.
The school said that the policy was put in place to help the university manage communal student gathering places.
The organization argued that such a policy violated free speech rights and filed a lawsuit against four university administrators in April.
Alliance Defending Freedom, the conservative group representing Grace Christian Life, says the settlement requires the university to pay $72,500 in attorneys' fees to lawyers who represented Grace Christian Life.
