LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 33-year-old man has died after jumping off a moving boat in Lake Mead.

National Park officials and Lake Mead officers say Jose Santos Galeana Barrera of North Las Vegas jumped without a life jacket while the boat was going at a high speed. Officials say the boat driver returned to find Barrera face-down in the water.

National Park Service medics and rangers tried to resuscitate Barrera after the Tuesday night incident, but officials say he was pronounced dead just before 7:30 p.m.

The incident is under investigation. Barrera's cause and manner of death have not been released.
