PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A grand jury has recommended charges against a caseworker whose autistic client was found dead after the woman wandered out of a department store last year.
A spokesman for the district attorney's office tells The Philadelphia Inquirer (http://bit.ly/1DfydeK ) that Hassanatu Wulu is expected to be charged with neglecting a dependent-care person and recklessly endangering another person.
Authorities say Wulu took a client, 37-year-old Christina Sankey, into a Macy's in downtown Philadelphia last March. The woman, who suffered severe disabilities, walked out of the store and wasn't seen until the next morning when police discovered her body about four miles away in west Philadelphia.
District Attorney Seth Williams said Wednesday that Sankey "failed at her job."
It's unclear whether Wulu has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
