SAN FRANCISCO — A former teammate of Seahawks wide receiver Rashid Shaheed said he’ll be watching this weekend’s Super Bowl with pride — and maybe a few nerves. Isiah Jackson, now the wide receivers coach at Weber State, spent four seasons alongside Shaheed from 2018 to 2021 and said seeing his friend on football’s biggest stage feels surreal. “It’s really cool to watch,” Jackson said. Jackson is still coaching on the same field where he and Shaheed spent countless hours training together. Now, he’s watching Shaheed prepare to shine on the sport’s biggest platform. “I’m so excited for him,” Jackson said. “It’s incredible. He’s made a name for himself over these last few games.” On the field, Jackson remembered Shaheed as laser‑focused — a teammate who didn’t need to say much to make an impact. “Really quiet on the field. Did his job. Every play,” he said. Off the field, though, Shaheed was known for his easygoing personality and love for his dog. “When he gets off, he kind of likes to relax,” Jackson said. “He hangs out with his dog all the time.” The two spoke recently, and Jackson made sure to wish his friend luck before the big game. His hopes for Shaheed are simple — and big. “Oh, just success,” Jackson said. “I know I’m going to see the smile on TV — everybody’s gonna see it. But just him doing his job and being able to be impactful in the return game, and then offensively taking some of the pressure off the run game and creating some explosive plays for Seattle.” As for how he thinks the matchup will unfold, Jackson said he believes it’ll be a battle. “I think both defenses are really good,” he said. “I think Seattle has a little bit more of an explosive offense. I’m thinking like a 24–17 type game.” For Jackson, no matter the final score, watching his former teammate compete on the sport’s biggest stage is already a win.
