LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County officials are poised to hire architects for a new building for the agency that handles child protective, foster parent and adoption services.
County commissioners will be asked Tuesday to approve a $440,000 contract with Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects to begin design work on a Department of Family Services building at the Clark County Government Center near downtown Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1kxV94u ) that cost estimates for a multi-story building of up to 150,000 square feet begin at $33 million.
Department spokeswoman Kristi Jourdan says Family Services currently has eight sites in and around Las Vegas, and about 800 full-time and part-time employees.
The Child Haven emergency shelter for abused and neglected children will remain at its current location near Pecos and Bonanza roads.
