Cases heard by WVU Student Conduct Board decline

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Student conduct cases at West Virginia University have declined.

The Student Conduct Board heard 39 cases during the 2013-2014 academic year, and eight other cases are pending. That's down from 70 cases during the 2012-2013 academic year.

This past academic year's cases include six malicious burning, eight hazing and eight possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute. Another 14 cases involved a school policy covering sexual assault and domestic violence.

Sanctions imposed by the board included expulsions and suspensions. One student's diploma was withheld. In seven cases, the board determined that the student wasn't responsible.
