CONCORD, Calif. (AP) - A California state senator who was called on to help a home invasion robbery victim says he is still stunned such a crime occurred in his neighborhood.
Mark DeSaulnier tells KTVU-TV he was at his home in Concord on Sunday afternoon when someone began pounding on the door. It was the grandson of his next door neighbor, and the boy reported that he and his grandmother had been robbed.
DeSaulnier alerted police.
Police say the grandmother and boy were taped up by three men and robbed of a safe. At least two of the men were armed with guns.
Police were working to identify the suspects on Sunday and hadn't made any arrests.
DeSaulnier says he was reading in his backyard when the crime occurred, but didn't hear anything suspicious.
