SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The new Veterans Affairs chief plans a visit to a VA facility in San Antonio as part of his efforts to reach out to veterans nationwide in the wake of a scandal over delays in providing health care.
Acting VA Secretary Sloan Gibson is to meet Friday with staff at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center.
In May, a VA employee in San Antonio said he and other area clerks were instructed to manipulate scheduling data so it would appear there were no wait times.
Gibson's visit to San Antonio follows one on Thursday to the Phoenix health care facility that has been the initial focus of problems related to veterans and wait times.
Gibson took over the VA last week after Secretary Eric Shinseki resigned.
