WASHINGTON (AP) — The acting head of the Justice Department's criminal division plans to leave her position next month.
The department said Wednesday that the departure of Acting Assistant Attorney General Mythili Raman (MY-tha-lee RAH-mon) takes effect on March 21.
She has led the criminal division over the last year and joined the Justice Department as a criminal division trial attorney in 1996.
Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement that Raman has done an exemplary job in running the division.
President Barack Obama in September nominated attorney Leslie Caldwell to lead the criminal division. That nomination is still pending in the Senate.
