New Museum of Illusions brings family fun to The Gateway

SALT LAKE CITY — Want to bend your brain for an hour and get the best photos in town? Check out the brand-new Museum of Illusions at The Gateway. It's the perfect place for a date night, family outing, or solo adventure for anyone who likes to leave reality a little more confused than when they arrived. Out of its many global locations, the museum is the company's first in Utah and one of the largest in North America. It is designed to draw both locals and visitors and adds a new, playful attraction to Salt Lake City's downtown district. [gallery columns="4" ids="823835,823834,823833,823832"] The Salt Lake City location stretches across roughly 13,000 square feet and features over 80 interactive installations. Its rooms seem to go on forever and feature others like holograms, reversed rooms and classic perspective tricks. (One makes you look like a skyscraper climber or a tiny giant in the same photo). The museum itself is partly a science lesson, part playground and always Instagram-ready. Don't forget to check out the infinity tunnel and the reversed room — they both make for those “wait, what?” moments that get everyone laughing and reaching for their phones. The museum mixes playful exhibits with a little brain science, so while you’re taking your 10th selfie, you can test your genius skills! So make sure you plan for 60 to 90 minutes to see everything without rushing. Bring a friend or your crew, wear something bright for photos and let the Museum of Illusions be a reminder that sometimes it’s okay to see the world differently.
