BOISE, Idaho (AP) — More than two dozen major companies ranging from Campbell’s Soup to Kia are suing the nation’s four biggest railway companies, contending the railroads had a price-fixing scheme to illegally boost profits. In the lawsuits filed Monday, the companies say BNSF Railway Co., CSX Transportation Inc., Norfolk Southern Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad Co. conspired to boost prices starting in 2003 by charging coordinated fuel surcharges. Attorneys for the railway companies declined to comment.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Federal officials have announced protections for woodland caribou and their habitat in Idaho and Washington. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Wednesday designated the southern mountain population of woodland caribou as endangered and confirmed 47 square miles in Idaho and Washington as critical habitat requiring special protection.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho judge says she agrees that fulfilling public records requests can put a big burden on governmental resources, but she expressed some skepticism about the number of completely redacted pages provided to four Boise-area journalists by Ada County officials this year. Fourth District Judge Deborah Bail made the comments during a Wednesday afternoon hearing on a lawsuit between the Idaho Press Club and Ada County Commissioners.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho authorities have charged a Boise woman with felony aggravated DUI after a two-vehicle car crash left a 3-year-old girl dead. The Boise Police Department booked 53-year-old Anna Mihelich into the Ada County Jail after a months-long investigation. Police say Mihelich was driving near the Boise Airport when she struck a van driven by Crystal Martinez Chavez July 2. Authorities say Chavez and her three children were taken to the hospital. One of the children Odalys Martinez Chavez died July 8.
