LOGAN, Utah - Utah State will be the fourth seed in the 2007 Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M., and play fifth-seed Hawai'i at 2:30 p.m. (MT) on Thur., Mar. 8.
Utah State is 21-10 on the season and finished WAC play with a 9-7 record following its 71-66 home loss to Fresno State Saturday night. Hawai'i is 18-12 on the year and finished league play with an 8-8 record following its 92-75 home win against Boise State Saturday night.
Utah State and Hawai'i split its season series as the Rainbow Warriors won at home 69-61 on Jan. 29, while USU won in Logan 58-50 on Feb. 14. Utah State leads the all-time series against Hawai'i 4-3, and this will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams in the conference tournament. Overall, it will be the second-ever postseason meeting between the two teams as Hawai'i defeated Utah State 85-74 in Logan on Mar. 17, 2004 in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.
