Boozer Named To 2007 NBA All-Star Game

SALT LAKE CITY (January 31, 2007) - Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer was named to the Western Conference All-Star team as of one of the eight reserves announced by the NBA today. Boozer was voted on to the 12-man squad by the 15 Western Conference coaches for the 2007 NBA All-Star Game which will be played on Sunday, Feb. 18 at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

This is the first All-Star berth for Boozer, who is in his fifth NBA season and third with the Jazz. Boozer is averaging career highs of 22.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 0.91 steals while shooting .569 from the field in 45 games. He leads the Jazz in scoring and rebounding and has posted 33 double-doubles. Boozer ranks second in the NBA in double-doubles, fourth in rebounding, fifth in field goal percentage and 19th in scoring.

Boozer is the ninth player in Jazz franchise history to make the All-Star Game, and the first since Andrei Kirilenko in 2004. The other Jazz All-Stars are Adrian Dantley (1980-82, ‘84-86), Mark Eaton (1989), Rickey Green (1984), Andrei Kirilenko (2004), Karl Malone (1988-02), Pete Maravich (1977-79), Len "Truck" Robinson (1978) and John Stockton (1989-97, ‘00).

The Western Conference All-Star team consists of starters Minnesota's Kevin Garnett, San Antonio's Tim Duncan, Houston's Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady and L.A. Lakers' Kobe Bryant. The reserves are Boozer, Phoenix's Shawn Marion, Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire, Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki, San Antonio's Tony Parker and Denver's Allen Iverson. Should any player be unable to participate in the All-Star Game due to injury, NBA Commissioner David Stern will select the replacement.

The 56th NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 18, will air live on TNT and ESPN Radio beginning at 6 p.m. MT. The game will also be telecast in over 200 countries and broadcast on NBA.com.
