Weddle named to another All-American team

Eric Weddle won his seventh All-America honor of the season today, when the Associated Press named him to its All-America second team. Weddle is one of just eight Utes ever to make an Associated Press All-America team, and the first since 2002, when offensive lineman Jordan Gross earned consensus All-America honors. He is Utah's first defensive A.P. All-American since Luther Elliss achieved consensus All-America status in 1994. Utah's other A.P. All-Americans were second-team quarterback Lee Grosscup (1957), second-team offensive lineman Carlton Walker (1984), third-team running back Earl Pomeroy (1929), third-team defensive lineman Steve Clark (1981) and third-team offensive lineman Anthony Brown (1994).

Utah senior defensive back Eric Weddle was named a first-team All-American by SportingNews.com today. He is Utah's first defensive first-team All-American since Luther Elliss in 1994. First-team awards for Weddle include: American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), SportsIllustrated.com, CBSsportsline.com, SportingNews.com and rivals.com. He won second-team recognition from the Walter Camp Football Foundation (WCFF).
