OREM, Utah (AP) -- Ryan Toolson came off the bench to score 26 points and lead Utah Valley State to a 74-57 win over Montana on Monday.
Toolson entered the game with 12 minutes remaining in the first half trailing the Grizzlies (1-1) 17-9. Toolson ignited the UVSC offense and the Wolverines (2-0) quickly took control of the game.
He quickly sank two 3-pointers after entering the game, and then with two minutes left in the first half Toolson gave UVSC its first lead on a three-point play.
Utah Valley State ended the first half on a 10-2 run and outscored Montana 14-5 in the first five minutes after halftime to turn a 25-21 deficit into a 45-32 lead.
Toolson finished 9-for-14 from the field and 5-for-6 on 3-point attempts. Matt Peterson added 16 points for the Wolverines. UVSC shot 69.2 percent (9-for-13) from 3-point range.
Montana forward Andrew Strait had 16 points and 11 rebounds.
