FARMINGTON — A community is grieving the loss of 13-year-old Connor Leonard, who was hit and killed while riding his e-bike on Friday afternoon.

The collision happened near 1575 West and 600 South in Farmington.

People have left flowers, cards and some of Connor's favorite things, like Mountain Dew at a makeshift memorial at the crash site.

On Friday, Connor was wearing safety gear while riding his e-bike with friends. His aunt Wendy Leonard said the group of boys even said a prayer before they set off on their ride.

"His friends are doing everything they can to memorialize him, and to remember him and to keep him in their thoughts," Leonard said. "We had a vigil on Saturday night, and the whole community turned out. The police came, strangers, people who didn't even know Connor came to express love for his parents, and people who knew Connor came and shared their experiences with him."

His aunt said she wishes Connor could see all of the support.

"Connor was a big personality, and he really loved living life," Leonard said.

Some of Connor's favorite things to do were ride his bikes, play guitar and write music, but he really just enjoyed being with his friends.

On Monday, classmates and students at Farmington Junior High wore red for Connor, signed posters and made a yearbook for his family.

"Thank you to everyone who has reached out and is helping to remember him," Leonard said.

She said their family is beyond grateful for the support.

"There are no words to say how much this community has turned out in support of that family," Leonard said.

A GoFundMe* has been started to help the Leonard family.
