BRIAN HEAD — A man was critically injured when he crashed an all-terrain vehicle in Iron County over the weekend.
Around 9 p.m. on Friday, Iron County sheriff's deputies became aware of a traumatic ATV accident near the Dry Lakes area close to Brian Head. Deputies said when emergency personnel arrived at the site, they found that a man had sustained severe head injuries as a result of the crash.
The Iron County Sheriff's Office had not released the name or age of the victim as of Wednesday.
Sheriff's Sgt. Tom Byrd said in a statement that a preliminary investigation found "the ATV had been traveling at a high rate of speed when it veered off the road and collided with a rock."
As a result of the severity of the man's injuries, Life Flight was called to the scene to transport the man to a hospital. Details of his injuries were not given, but Byrd said he remained in critical condition Wednesday.
