GROUNDED — We've all been there. You're sitting in a cramped space on a delayed plane, waiting for some sign of takeoff, frustrated that your travel plans have been disrupted.

Then, you hear the cabin speaker system crackle on, and instead of a flight status update, you hear ... a song from Disney's "Moana?"

That is what passengers on a recent Delta flight grounded in Orlando experienced when a girl was seemingly permitted to sing over the plane's PA system during the two-hour delay. A video was uploaded to TikTok of the girl singing "How Far I'll Go" from Disney's "Moana" to silent passengers with this caption: "When your Delta flight is delayed 2 hours and you circle Orlando for another 2 ... But then a little girl sings Moana on the crew mic and suddenly everything feels okay."

The original video has gone viral, with over 24 million views on TikTok and countless reposts on multiple social media platforms. Commenters on various versions of the video seem split about whether the performance was endearing or infuriating.

Many comments express how frustrating it would be to be stuck on a plane for several hours and then be "forced" to listen to a child's live rendition of a popular Disney song. Those who agree that the performance was inappropriate for the circumstances are also criticizing the girl's parents for allowing her to sing.

"No hate to the girl, but the PARENTS should know how to read a room. Not everything should be centered around your child ..." said one commenter on TikTok.

Another passenger on the plane recorded herself listening to the girl's song from a different perspective and appeared completely unenthused by the situation.

Still, other people in the comments are applauding the girl's bravery to sing for a plane full of strangers, and say those posting hateful comments about the two-minute song need to lighten up.

"Oh, for crying out loud, they were on the ground for a two-hour delay," said a commenter on social platform X. "This child wanted to do something to cheer people up. It's cute and, more importantly, gave the other passengers a distraction from the boredom of sitting on the tarmac."

Several parents of children who love Disney say they would have enjoyed the distraction, and some — who still say they would have found the situation annoying — acknowledge that the girl had no ill intentions and probably thought sharing her talent would lift the mood.

While we don't know if she was looking for a way to pass time or was completing a lifelong dream of performing for a captive audience, there's no telling how far this young singer will go now that millions have viewed her song.
