ST. GEORGE — A St. George pilot is flying high with an app that connects flight instructors with students, helps pilots find planes to rent and puts mechanics just a tap away. It's a one-stop shop for all things aviation.

"Everyone I talk to, within three sentences of describing it, especially in the aviation community, they're like, 'Oh, I got it. That makes sense to me. Why don't we have this?" Lima Flight app creator and certified flight instructor Jess Ellwanger said. "That's how I know we've got something that's not really out there yet, and it's exciting to see."

Ellwanger, 28, launched the Lima Flight app two months ago and it's been gaining altitude. The response from students, instructors and flight schools has been strong. In St. George, for every instructor on the app, four students have signed up, signaling growing demand for flight training.

The app has launched across the U.S., with pockets of activity popping up in different regions, which Ellwanger said has been fun to watch. Next up is Las Vegas, where the team plans to make a push. They'll have a booth at the upcoming Stratus Financial Aerosummit Aviation Conference and are excited to connect with the Vegas aviation community.
